Lately, I have been called a "Grammar Snob" and a "Grammar Nazi." I wear these labels proudly and do not take offense...well, "Nazi" is a bit extreme... Is it too much to ask that people take pride in their work--maybe proofread a little? Is it too much to ask that people learn the difference between their, there, and they're or loose and lose? I think not.
A friend of mine recently introduced me to an awesome web site, called The Oatmeal. This site has awesome posters explaining common mistakes made by people when writing, such as using apostrophes inappropriately.
That's all my ranting for now!
Ah, I am also known as the grammar police... I think I may have missed my calling as an English teacher. Aside from the fact that I can't stand other people's children. :)
ReplyDeleteDid you see the video interview with the Irish guy and The Oatmeal? It was pretty interesting.
