Grammar Snob

Lately, I have been called a "Grammar Snob" and a "Grammar Nazi." I wear these labels proudly and do not take offense...well, "Nazi" is a bit extreme... Is it too much to ask that people take pride in their work--maybe proofread a little? Is it too much to ask that people learn the difference between their, there, and they're or loose and lose? I think not.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to an awesome web site, called The Oatmeal. This site has awesome posters explaining common mistakes made by people when writing, such as using apostrophes inappropriately.

That's all my ranting for now!

Working Girl Potatoes

Ingredients:
5-lbs potatoes (gold or butter reds work best)
2 8-oz pkgs cream cheese
1/2 large tub sour cream
1 stick butter
onion powder
garlic salt
salt
pepper
bacon, cooked and crushed
cheddar cheese, shredded or grated

Directions
Wash and peel potatoes. Cut into small pieces and put in pot of water to boil. When potatoes are soft and fall apart with fork, remove from heat. Drain. Add the butter, mix. Add the cream cheese and sour cream (I usually alternate and taste until it tastes about right). Add the onion powder, garlic salt, salt and pepper to taste.

Cook bacon (or use bacon bits) until it is almost burnt. This will help make crumbling it easier, and it adds a nice crunch to the potatoes. Garnish potatoes with cheese and bacon. Add chives if desired.
